Clinical Significance
Albumin, 24-Hour Urine without Creatinine - Albumin excreted in the urine (Microalbumin) is a sensitive marker of nephropathy. It is used to screen for early renal disease in diabetic patients.

5 mL urine aliquot from a well mixed 24-hour urine collection - no preservative

Urinalysis transport tube (yellow-top, blue fill line, preservative tube)

2 mL

Collection Instructions
Specify 24-hour total volume on container and test requisition.

Note: Exercise within 24 hours, infection, fever, congestive heart failure, marked hyperglycemia, and marked hypertension may elevate urinary albumin excretion over baseline values.
